Interschool sports. (By Tiana)
All of the netball and rugby people played at Glenholme.
Lynmore had no miniball team so almost all of the miniball people went to other classes.
Some of the miniball people stayed with their own teachers.
Mrs Owen and Mrs Norton came to Lynmore and Mrs Vercoe and Ms J stayed at Glenholme.

Eggy Schmeggy
During week 6 we had rotations on different topics. On Friday the 28th of May we had Eggy Schmeggy with Mrs Vercoe. Firstly, in our groups we cracked open an egg and looked at the 3 major parts which were the shell, the yolk and the white. Another name for the egg white is albumen. We also talked about some detailed parts of an egg which are chalazae, membranes, and air cell. After that we drew a diagram with labels. My diagram is the image at the top.
Following that we predicted what happens when parts of an egg are beaten. We separated the yolk from the white of an egg and put them in separate bowls. We also had a yolk and it's white in another bowl together so we had 3 bowls altogether.
Mrs Vercoe used her electric beater to mix the bowl contents for 1 minute each. We watched each beating and noticed how the eggs changed. The egg white had changed to a bright white colour and went all fluffy. The egg yolk stayed the same colour and didn't fluff up. The egg white and yolk together became partly fluffy and the colour changed to a pale yellow. The images below show the eggs after they had been beaten and Mrs Vercoe beating the egg white and yolk together.

Mrs Vercoe boiled some eggs for 10 minutes and we predicted what the eggs would like look after two minute intervals. The ten minute egg was fully cooked and the colour changed to a lighter yellow. It was bright yellow before it was cooked. The two minute egg was hardly cooked and still very runny. It was a bright yellow colour. The eggs are in the image below.
We also talked about what we could make with eggs, some things are pavlova, cakes, pies, omlettes and many more.
After our talk and lesson we all had a treat. The treat was yummy pavlova with fruit salad and cream.

Westbrook arrived at 1.10pm and we welcomed them with a powhiri. Piri was our speaker and Montana lead our waiata. Westbrook then spoke followed by a waiata too. Mrs Owen then welcomed them too with a korero and spoke about the rules around our school and wished everyone good luck and good sportsmanship.
The results were:
Of our 3 netball teams, 1 team won and 2 teams lost.
Of our rugby teams, 1 team won and 1 team lost.
Of our miniball teams, 1 team drew and 1 team won.
Of our hockey, only 1 game and we lost.
Of our soccer, both teams lost.
We farewelled Westbrook at 2.40pm with a speech from Sophie Moore and Mrs Owen.
After that, we shared our results with each other in our team.
We enjoyed our first interschool sports exchange for the year, we can't wait for the next one against Lynmore in Week 5 on Thursday 20 May.
